Pleasures
We bought the farmhouse in 2010. The property was enthusiastic and convinced us by its hillside location with unobstructed kilometer-wide far-sightedness. However, the buildings required a nuclear rehabilitation. We renovated - partly with a lot of original work - first the main house. In 2016 we attacked the smaller adjoining building, whose "cute charm" had been a long time for us to renovate. The end product has now been available for the first time since 2017, and we hope to convince our guests as much as we do ourselves. In addition, a covered summer kitchen is available, which contributes to the enjoyment in the open air.
SURROUNDINGS
For many years, our sympathy has always been to the south-west of France, that is, we love the Perigord landscape (today's Dordogne), architecture of old farmhouses, culture, nature and not least the French gastronomy.
EAT & DRINK
This is the first place to join a gourmet region: truffles, rock mushrooms and goose liver pastes, and in the south-west the adjoining wine-growing region of Bergerac. But this is not enough: Here you can buy fruits, vegetables and meat products, which - because seasonally and regionally produced and ripe harvested - differ by quality and taste clearly from what we know from Germany.
CULTURE
From the time of the Hundred Years War between the French and the British, the country is still characterized by a multitude of castles and fortified villages. Many villages and towns have preserved their medieval cityscapes by means of elaborate restorations and transport visitors to a different time. The hospitality here is a golden rule; in the Perigord, a multitude of other nationalities live alongside the natives today; it can be regarded as a European microcosm.
CLIMATE
Compared to Northern and Central Europe, a sunny and warmer, but not too hot climate, favored by the Gulf Stream contributes to a different lifestyle. The naturalness of the countryside gives a "deep silence" when you stop, and during the late summer and autumn the summer takes place in a sensuous spectrum of colors and smells of nature.
